All of our 6-8th grade students have now had a chance to schedule electives for next year and have it checked (just for scheduling accuracy) by a counselor. Remember the deadline for any changes is 2/13. An e-mail will go out to parents with instructions on how to view and make changes until 2/13.

We love partnering with the Career Tech Center and are so excited to announce an amazing opportunity for RPMS students. Starting on 2/24, there will be 7 different after school programs offered to students FREE of charge. Sessions will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 2/24 until 4/2. We will bus students to CTC (leave 6th hour early) and students will return by bus to RPMS where they can be picked up. See the graphics below for more details. Permission slips are available in the office (also turn in to the office) and spots are limited. We offered Welding last year and it was a great learning experience for all involved.

Our students had an amazing day enjoying the beautiful weather at the Winter Sports Complex. Car beaches are amazing in August and in February. Students in the Introduction to Cross Training class had the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone. Many students tried something new today. There were so many memories made and a handful of them captured in pictures.

It is time to start thinking about scheduling for next year. High school counselors were in last week and will visit again this week to make sure that students have all the information they need. Mrs. Mitchelson has been working with our current seventh graders and incoming seventh graders.

The Rocket Center was the hub of an amazing experience this weekend for (90) 5th-12th grade students from (11) area School Districts. They came together to RISE UP and hone their performing skills on stage! Triple Threat Workshop participants were treated to 3.5 Hours of Singing, Dancing & Acting Instruction from (2) current Cast members of Hamilton- the Musical! Thanks to the phenomenal Trevor Miles & Gabriel Hyman (currently portraying George Eaker & Charles Lee), our students not only got to learn songs, lines and dances from Hamilton, they were able to hear from Trevor & Gabe about their journey from school to a professional career in the arts. Take-Aways from the Q&A Time: "No one's journey is alike...there a stage and a place for you somewhere...I auditioned for Hamilton 12 times and was told "no". If I would have decided to give up, even after 11 times...I wouldn't be here now". Thank you all adults involved in creating a great opportunity for our students!

The Reeths-Puffer Middle School Winterguard took home the 2nd place trophy yesterday at their home competition to start off the season. Everyone put on an amazing performance. Great job!

Yesterday, our students got to experience the FIRST-TIME EVER FREE 1-Hour Dance Class sponsored by the choir/theater department. The 47 attending dancers learned some fave steps from the 50's and 60's such as: The Twist, The Pony, The Side Touch and The Watusi. Getting some fundamentals and inspiration for our Spring Production of "Hairspray!"! There is so much to love in these pictures.

The RPMS Choir provided tons of holiday spirit in a packed Rocket Center last night. The performance titled, Sounds of the Season, showcased vocal talents of RPMS students while adding comedic relief using skits from the holiday classic Home Alone. It was an entertaining evening filled with Rocket Pride!!

It was a packed house at the Rocket Center last night as the middle school hosted the annual holiday band concert under the direction of Mr. Erne. The band proudly showcased many hours of preparation performing familiar music including Frosty the Snowman and Feliz Navidad. It was a great evening!

A great reminder.

It has been a little bit busy so this is coming a little late, but we still want to recognize and share about a great end of marking period celebration. This is a time where we celebrate our students showing respect, pride, and integrity. The pride was awesome!

It is a great day to think of all the things we are thankful for. Some of the things we are thankful for are monumental and others surround us daily within every day moments. At RPMS, we are thankful for STUDENTS that are kind, willing to take risks, push themselves to learn, admit when they can do better, help others, and bring meaning to “The Rocket Way”. We are thankful for our COMMUNITY that loves and supports our students, beyond even their own children, knowing that it takes a village. We are thankful for TEACHERS (used to describe any adult that chose to work in a school) that put student needs at the front of what they do, continue to grow as professionals, understand the goofiness of middle school years, and work tirelessly to help our students grow socially and academically. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Did someone say frozen yogurt? Today one special class enjoyed a frozen yogurt party as part of our Rocket Recognition, courtesy of Yodels! We also had 5 students who enjoyed various prizes for demonstrating The Rocket Way. This was a great way to end a short week. Go Rockets!

Tomorrow all 7th grade students should wear GREEN and 8th grade students wear WHITE for the marking period celebration. Everyone bring your Rocket pride!!! Spread the word.

Staff versus Students went well this afternoon. Both teams showed a lot of grit, spirit, and athleticism. Staff definitely showed more athleticism than the students expected. The organization and teamwork for the students definitely increased as the game went on. Thank you to everyone that participated, helped with running the event, and to our great community that were amazing spectators.

Tomorrow after school, students will take on the staff in a flag football game from 3:00-4:00. Students, friends, and family are welcome to attend the event which is being held at the middle school football stadium. Admission will cost $1.00 and concessions will be available. All proceeds will go toward supporting positive recognition of RPMS students.

Aprender Espanol es muy importante. Te da opportunidades en el futuro. Por el apprendizaje de un segundo idioma su mente se extiende se exitiende (written by students). The world language goal for our students is that they are able to speak, listen, read, and write in Spanish about a variety of topics, especially things that happen in every day life. As we learn to speak in another language, it takes a lot of brain energy and courage to stumble and make mistakes. Students work with a lot of partner talk, group conversation, movies, music, infographics, text, social media, and real life issues. We are proud of our students as they continue to grow as communicators.
