Greetings R-PEL Parents/Guardians and Families,
Welcome back R-PEL students and families! We are excited for the start of the 2024-2025 school year! The entire R-PEL team has been working really hard this summer to prepare for our Open House and the first day of school.
Open House Information: August 20th from 6:00-7:00 PM. Please report to your student’s classroom. This is for all Kindergarten through fourth grade students. You MUST complete the Demographic Update first.
Teacher Placement Information / DEMOGRAPHIC UPDATE:
All R-P Elementary Schools will not be sending teacher placements via the U.S. Mail. You must complete the Demographic Update to view your child's teacher name. If you already have a parent account set up in the Parent Portal, go to https://ps-rp.muskegonisd.org/public and log in to complete the necessary forms for each student. If you do not have an account follow the directions on the sheet that was mailed out on Friday.
First Week of School:
Monday 8/26 through Thursday 8/29 are all half days, 8:45-12:00
Tuesday 9/3 is our first full day of school, 8:45-3:45.
School Pictures: Will be taken during the school day on September 9th. Order forms will be available the first week of school. There is an online order form in my Parent Communication as well. Picture retakes will be on October 11th.
Feel free to call me in my office, 744-4777 if you have questions or concerns. The school office will be open Monday through Fridays from 8:00-4:00 each day.

STEM CAMP !!
Offered in collaboration with MAISD, this camp is for students entering 1st-8th grade (24/25 school year) who are interested in the world of STEM.
All participants get a free lunch!

ESSER lll Funding - Stakeholder Input Survey "2"
In December 2021, Reeths-Puffer district and community stakeholders were invited to have input on how the district could best use American Recovery Act funds to recover from learning loss in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are pleased to report that all projects originally approved under this grant have been completed or are under way.
We are once again seeking input on how to best use the remaining funds from that grant. These funds are for one-time or short-term expenditures to address post-pandemic learning loss. Please take time to let us know your opinion by completing this brief survey by 2:00 pm on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Reeths-Puffer Schools will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 1 due to downed trees and power outages.
Safe Kids West Michigan, led by Trinity Health, will be hosting a community car seat check next Thursday, Nov 2 from 12:30 - 3 p.m. at Muskegon Township Fire Department, 1117 S. Walker Rd. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to help ensure children are traveling safely. There will also be a limited number of replacement car seats available on a first needed first served basis.

Background Information:
Some of you may remember the safe routes to school project that happened about 10 years ago at/near Central Elementary. It delivered some amazing sidewalks to the neighborhoods around the school and have been a great upgrade to that neighborhood. Our goal is to bring that same look and feel to this campus by applying for another safe routes to school grant.
