The 7th graders jumped out to an early lead thanks to some great transition basketball against the host Wildcats of Jenison. Despite some problems with the execution of the offense, the girls managed to find scrappy ways to score points. Leading the charge was Raquel Walker with sixteen points, five rebounds and nine steals. She was complemented by the hustle of Addison Mitchelson’s fifteen points, three rebounds and four steals. Also getting some nice buckets was the duo of Addison Whitaker and Kayleigh Brown. The showstopper on defense was the superb play of Aiva Kass who did a nice job showing an understanding of “gap/help defense.” It’s a quick turnaround for the Rockets as they host the same Wildcats on Wednesday. Be sure to come support your girls basketball team.
