The 8th Grade Lady Rockets played host to East Kentwood on Wednesday evening. It was the final home game of their careers at the Middle School. The old saying of the game is not over until the final horn or whistle was in play Wednesday evening. The Rockets took an early lead to only see the Falcons hit 5 three pointers in the first half with 4 coming in the 2nd quarter. A great end of the 2nd quarter and 6 points each by Grace Tindall and Ash David got the Rockets back within 2 at half. The 3rd quarter was played pretty equal with East Kentwood hitting 2 more three pointers. Those 2 three pointers were matched by the Rocket's Wren Tyrska hitting 2 three pointers of her own. The 4th quarter was won on the defensive end as the Rocket's defense held the Falcons to one basket. Meanwhile big baskets by Bri Do, Ash David and Olivia Ambler built a lead that the Rockets would not relinquish. The final horn sounded after Jaz Kops realized the play had not stopped on the Rocket's final defensive stand. She got the ball and dribbled it out to secure a thrilling 41-39 victory. The team finished the season with a record of 6 wins and 6 losses. Leading scorers were: Bri Do (2 points), Jaz Kops (2 points), Chasity Sellers (2 points), Gracie Callender (3 points), Olivia Ambler (4 points), Grace Tindall (8 points), Wren Tryska (8 points) and Ash David (12 points). Other players contributing to the victory were Grace Klimsza and Ella Voorhies. Special shout out to our shot chart extraordinaire Avery Cooper!
