MS Athletics

The 8th Grade Lady Rockets traveled across town to face their rivals from Mona Shores. The team got off to a slow start against the Sailor zone. The team struggled inside against the Sailor "trees" and struggled to find the basket as well from the outside. Only Ella Voorhies  was able to get a bucket as the team trailed 9 to 2 early into the 2nd quarter.  Finally a bucket by Grace Tindall and 2 free throws each by Olivia Ambler and Jaz Kops helped the Rockets get rolling and take the halftime lead. The 3rd quarter was played pretty even before the Rockets pulled away in the 4th quarter led by Grace Tindall scoring 8 of her points.  Great defense by the team limited Mona Shores all night. Chasity Sellers had her best game defensively with great rebounding and aggressiveness. The final score was R-P 30 and Mona Shores 18. This completed a sweep of Mona Shores this season.  The team will play at Grand Haven on Monday before ending their season at home on Wednesday. Leading scorers were Olivia Ambler (3 points), Bri Do (4 points), Jaz Kops (4 points), Ella Voorhies (4 points), Ash David (4 points) and Grace Tindall (11 points).
