The Reeths-Puffer hockey team won its second game in a row with a tough 1-0 victory over the Kalamazoo Eagles on Saturday.
The Rockets played three games in three days in the Griff’s Showcase tournament in Grand Rapids and finished with a 2-1 record.
R-P’s Dewey Madoff scored the game’s only goal in the third period, with assists from Jaxon Stone and Eli Cuti.
Reeths-Puffer goalie Isaiah Van Noord
Goalie Isaiah Van Noord got the shutout, stopping all 27 shots he faced.
"We were not at our best tonight, but three games in three nights is tough for any team,” said R-P Coach Ryan Martin. “The coaching staff is extremely proud of the players and the way they battled through adversity, injuries, and illness to have a successful weekend.
“We killed off a long 5-on-3 (Kalamazoo power play) and played the best defense we have played all season after taking the lead. There were definitely a lot of good things that we can build on from this weekend."
Reeths-Puffer is now 5-3 on the season.
