The Reeths-Puffer soccer team fell to state-ranked Zeeland East 5-1 at home on Tuesday in an O-K Green conference matchup.

The Chix led 2-1 at halftime, then pulled away with three goals in the second half.

Isaac Fernandez scored twice in the first half for Zeeland East, then Isaac Ritsema got a goal for R-P with an assist from JT Fansler.

Caleb Swartzendruber, Alessandro Saccani and Fernandez all scored in the second half for the Chix.

Reeths-Puffer had a 6-5 edge in shots on goal in both the first and second half, but couldn’t turn those opportunities into more goals.

“I thought we played hard in the first half, and Zeeland East had a couple calls go in their favor that really opened up the game for them,” said R-P Coach Kody Harrell. “We dominated possession and dominated the run of play throughout the game, but we didn't create superb scoring chances with it.

“Now our boys are just going to need a gut check moving forward."

The Rockets are now 4-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in O-K Green play.
