The Reeths-Puffer lacrosse team has been taking a breather since the weekend, and hopes to start having more success when the schedule resumes on Thursday with a game at Northville.

The Rockets will go in with some confidence after only losing to Northville by one goal, 9-8, in the second game of the season.

The goal will be to play with more confidence after a recent series of rough outcomes.

Last week the Rockets lost three games by decisive margins - 12-3 to Zeeland West, 17-0 to Jenison and 15-1 to Mona Shores.

Against Zeeland West, the Rockets trailed 5-0 before scoring a goal.

They trailed 6-1 after one quarter, 8-3 at halftime and 10-3 after three quarters.

Cohen Beck scored two goals for R-P while Blake Kiel scored once.

The situation was similar against Mona Shores, when the Rockets found themselves trailing 7-0 after one quarter, 9-1 at halftime and 12-1 after three quarters.

Owen Greiner scored R-P's lone goal in the game.

No details were available about the Jenison game, when the Rockets failed to score.

R-P was 12-5 last season, but lost a lot of quality seniors to graduation and has been rebuilding with a lot of younger, more inexperienced players . The Rockets are currently 1-8.

"It's frustrating right now," said R-P head coach Josh Robidoux. "I know that we are young and dealing with injuries and other circumstances, but I also know that we are capable of so much more than we are showing right now.

"Getting these guys playing with some confidence and tightening up on defense earlier on is crucial right now. It's deflating to be down by so much so early on, so of course the rest of our play is going to suffer as a result. Regardless of the scoreboard right now, what I care about, above everything else, is some movement back in the right direction."
