The Reeths-Puffer girls soccer team has been very competitive in most of its games this season, but so far that has not led to a victory.
The Rockets dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker to Caledonia on Tuesday in its first O-K Green conference game of the season.
R-P is now 0-5 on the season, but the record doesn't tell the whole story. Three of the losses have come by one goal.
The Rockets took a 1-0 lead when Jaslynn Kops scored about seven minutes into the game, with an assist from Ashlyn David.
Jaslynn Kops, who scored Reeths-Puffer's goal.
Caledonia scored with about 15 minutes left in the first half, then stole the win by scoring with about 14 minutes remaining in the game.
Reeths-Puffer had a 10-9 advantage in shots on goal. R-P goalie Sara Carlson made seven strong saves.
The Rockets will travel to play rival Mona Shores on Thursday night in an other conference matchup.
"It was really refreshing to see our girls come out of the break with a new attitude and pep to their step, especially against a very attack-minded team," said R-P head coach Kody Harrell. "Caledonia had a very aggressive offense and we didn’t box in against them, we actually generated way more quality scoring chances.
"A lot of girls did a lot of things really well last night. I thought we did enough to win the game. So proud of our girls and I hope we take this new sense of energy we are playing with into Mona Shores tomorrow night!"
