Reeths-Puffer junior Lainey McDaniel had a dominating season on the pitching mound last year, helping the Rockets win a conference and district title.
McDaniel picked up where she left off on Thursday, piling up a pretty amazing 15 strikeouts as the Rockets opened the 2025 season with a 4-1 road victory over Northview..
McDaniel only allowed one walk and one earned run in the victory. 
R-P pitcher Lainey McDaniel, who struck out 15 batters in the season opener.
McDaniel, Aubrey Clark, Tessa Ross and Mady Snyder each had a hit for Reeths-Puffer while Abbie Critchett had an RBI.
R-P played great defense with no errors while Northville totaled three.
"It was a great overall showing from our team, and we still have so much room for improvement," said R-P Coach Sarah Bayle. "I’m looking forward to how scary this team can become once we fine tune a few things!"
The Rockets will return to action on Monday when they host Sparta.
