As he prepared for the season, Reeths-Puffer lacrosse coach Josh Robidoux said it was going to take some time for his very young team, with a lot of new players, to get up to speed at the varsity level.

That was obvious on Wednesday night, when the Rockets opened the new season with a tough 17-5 road loss to Kenowa Hills in non-conference action.

R-P fell behind 8-1 after the first quarter and struggled the rest of the way.

Kenowa Hills led 11-2 at halftime and 16-4 after three quarters.

Cohen Beck and Owen Greiner each scored two goals for the Rockets while Hunter Adams scored his first varsity goal.

"That was a tough start to our season, and obviously not the result we were hoping for," Coach Robidoux said. "They came out ready to play and took advantage of some slow reactions from us and jumped out to an early lead. We learned a lot, and there are plenty of things we're going to take a look at this week as we prepare for the next one."

The Rockets will try to get untracked when they host Northview on Friday night in their first home game of the season.
