The Reeths-Puffer girls basketball team dropped a close one to Ludington on Tuesday, 40-35, in its final game of the regular season.

R-P trailed 8-6 after a quiet first quarter, then outscored the Orioles 13-7 in the second to take a 19-15 halftime lead.

The third quarter was pretty even, with Ludington having an 11-10 edge and R-P leading 29-26 headed into the fourth.

The trouble came in the last eight minutes, when the Orioles outscored the Rockets 14-6 to steal the narrow victory.

R-P's Raquel Walker was the leading scorer in the game with 16 points, and also had five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Ashlyn David finished with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Rockets finished the regular season with a 5-16 record.

They will open Division 1 district tournament play on Monday against rival Mona Shores at 5:30 p.m. at Muskegon High School.
