Reeths-Puffer bowlers Liam Copenhaver and Carter Hekkema qualified for the state finals on Friday by having great outings at a Division 2 regional tournament at Westgate Bowl in Comstock Park.
The top seven bowlers in the tournament made the cut, and Copenhaver and Hekkema got the job done.
Copenhaver finished in fifth place with 259, 202, 179, 185, 188 and 197 games, for a series score of 1,210. His 259 game was his career-high.
Hekkema finished seventh with 191, 208, 257, 156, 170 and 200 games, for a series score of 1,182.
Hekkema's 257 game was a career best, and he won the first tournament medal of his varsity career. He managed to beat out the eight-place bowler and qualify for state by one pin.

Copenhaver and Hekkema will compete on Friday and Saturday at the Division 2 state finals at the Century Bowl in Waterford.
Two other Rockets also had good days, although they didn't quite make the cut.
Tanner Bahr finished 10th with an 1,162 series and Quinn Alderink was 13th with a 1,151 series.
"Congratulations to Liam for an excellent day," said R-P Coach Craig Alderink. "He has been rolling really good scores all season, and had a great day on Friday to earn another medal and his first trip to the state tournament.
"Congratulations to Carter for earning his first medal and a trip to the state tournament. He was able to put everything together on Friday for his best day on the lanes so far.
"This was a very successful day for the boys. We were the only school in our 12-team region to send multiple bowlers to the state tournament and we had four bowlers finish in the top 13."
