The Reeths-Puffer girls bowling team turned in a very strong performance against local competition on Wednesday, finished in second place at the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament at Sherman Bowling Center.
The Rockets bowled well in preliminary rounds and ended up making the tournament playoffs, along with Ravenna, Holton and Orchard View.
R-P beat Orchard View in the semifinals, then lost to Ravenna 351-319 in the championship match.
The Rockets' great run was part of an all-around great day for Reeths-Puffer bowling, with the boys team winning the GMAA title in its tournament.

Brook Buchan and Destani Villalpando each rolled a team-high 180 score in Game 1 for R-P. Ella Mattson rolled a 172 in Game 2.
Mattson finished with a 330 series and finished fifth individually in the tournament, winning a medal.
Buchan had a 327 series, finished in seventh place individually, and also earned a medal.
"The girls really fought hard all day," said R-P Coach Karla Buchan. "They did not give up! That is all we can ask. I am super proud of all of them!"
The Rockets will have another big day on Saturday when they compete in the O-K Green conference postseason tournament, with a chance to win n outright conference championship.
