The Reeths-Puffer hockey team has hit a tough patch in the O-K conference Fischer Division tournament.
The Rockets have played two tournament games and come up short in both, following Friday's heartbreaking 3-2 loss in overtime to Forest Hills Central.
R-P, now 13-7-2, has a very uncharacteristic three-game losing streak.
The Rockets will continue tournament play with another game on Saturday.
Forest Hills Central scored the only goal of the first period on a power play. R-P killed off two other penalties to avoid further damage.
R-P goalie Huck VanDyke, who had a busy game and played well.
The Rockets had three power play opportunities in the second period, and finally cashed in on the third when Hayden Taylor scored with 9:35 left in the period. The score was 1-1 headed into the third period.
FHC scored first in the third period, then the Rockets answered with a goal by Eli Cuti with only 1:57 left on the clock, sending the game to overtime.
Forest Hills Central scored a shorthanded goal in the extra period to steal the win.
Huck VanDyke had a strong game in goal for the Rockets, stopping 32 of 35 shots. The Rockets were outshot 35-23 in the game.
Connor Anderson and Hunter Fritz each has assists for R-P.
"To lose in overtime, after we played so much better than our last game, stings," said R-P head coach Dustin Langlois. "But it's still a step in the right direction. We cleaned a lot of things up, but struggled to get Huck help in our own end.
"We gotta get better at getting pucks to the net. We did so well for so long that we almost kind of expect it to happen. We gotta work harder and get into the dirty areas and play tougher hockey. It's getting better, but we still have work to do."
