The Reeths-Puffer boys bowling team has some late season momentum going, following a pair of very strong outings on Saturday and Monday.

The Rockets competed in the Mona Shores Sailor Cup Invitational on Saturday and did very well, rolling team scores of 927 and 1,017 in the two regular games and finishing fourth out of 20 teams.

The 1,017 game was the first 1,000-plus game for the R-P boys in at least seven years, according to Coach Craig Alderink.

The top four finish put the Rockets in the tournament playoffs, where they lost to Mona Shores in the semifinals.

Ryleigh Beebe finished in seventh place individually out of 113 bowlers and earned the first tournament medal of his varsity career. He rolled great games of 211 and 218 for a 429 series.

Liam Copenhaver finished in 25th place individually with a 379 series while Carter Hekkema and Tanner Bahr tied for 27th after each bowled a 373 series.

Karsen Boeskool had R-P's high score for the day with a 223.

"I have been around the R-P boys bowling team for seven years and this is the best single day team performance that I have seen," Alderink said. "It was a very successful day. We got contributions from all six members of the team."

The Rockets followed up Saturday's performance with a 21-9 O-K Green conference victory over Byron Center on Monday.

R-P won both baker games and the two bonus baker points.

The Rockets won the first regular game, 884-765. Bahr, Hekkema and Copenhaver each won their individual matchups in Game 1. Bahr had a high score of 197.

The Rockets lost Game 2, but won the overall regular game bonus points.

Karsen Boeskool and Quinn Alderink won their matchups in Game 2. Boeskool had a high score of 178.

"This was a very solid all around team win today," Coach Alderink said. "The boys picked up where they left off on Saturday. We jumped out to an early lead after the baker games, including the impressive 254 game, and then shut the door with a very good first regular game."

The Rockets, now 6-4 overall in dual matches and 6-2 in the conference standings, will take on Jenison on Wednesday.
