The Reeths-Puffer boys bowling team improved to 5-1 in the O-K Green conference standings with a tight 16-14 victory over Caledonia on Monday at Spectrum Lanes.
The Rockets did just enough to squeak out the victory.
One big key for R-P was winning six of the 10 head-to-head matchups in the regular games, which are each worth one team point.
Liam Copenhaver, Ryleigh Beebe and Quinn Alderink secured wins in the first regular game while Copenhaver, Beebe and Karsen Boeskool posted victories in the second game.
Copenhaver had the high score in both games, with a very strong 239 effort in the first and a 189 in the second. Beebe also rolled two good games, with scores of 192 and 182.
R-P's Liam Copenhaver, who led the Rockets in both regular games.
The Rockets split the two baker rounds, winning the first and earning four points, but losing the second and missing out on the two bonus points for overall pins.
They won the first regular game 892-774, earning four more points, then lost the second 805-770.
R-P won the two regular game bonus points for overall pin total, which was another key to the victory.
"Liam and Ryleigh bowled awesome today and carried the team to victory," said R-P head coach Craig Alderink. "We got just enough out of the other guys to squeak out a way-too-close-for-comfort win."
Reeths-Puffer, now 5-3 overall on the season, will have another crucial conference match on Wednesday against Mona Shores.
