The Reeths-Puffer hockey team ended it’s two-day weekend stay on the east side of the state with an 8-0 victory over Saginaw Heritage on Saturday at the Bay City Showcase.
The Rockets finished with a 2-0 record at the Showcase after beating Midland on Friday.
R-P pulled ahead in the first period with goals from Leo Kretschmar (his first varsity goal) and Tyler Cuti.
Hayden Taylor
The Rockets poured it on in the second period with two goals from Hayden Taylor and single tallies from Tyler Tindall, Ayden Hartzell and Connor Anderson.
Eli Cuti topped off the scoring with a third-period goal.
The game was “chippy” and filled with penalties, according to R-P head coach Dustin Langlois. Saginaw Heritage had eight penalties in the third period alone, while R-P had seven.
Leo Kretschmar
"We did our best to stay out of the nonsense and just play hockey,” Langlois said. “We’re always happy with a win, and I’m just glad we made it out of that game healthy."
Kretschmar had two assists for the Rockets, along with Hunter Fritz and Eli Cuti. Taylor, Tindall and Sheldon Frederick each had one.
The Rockets, now 5-1 on the season, will host Kenowa Hills on Wednesday night at Trinity Health Arena.
