The Reeths-Puffer wrestling team had mixed results on Wednesday in its first two dual matches of the season.
The Rockets started the night with a blowout 68-7 victory over Petoskey, but ended with a tight 42-29 loss to Cedar Springs, which is ranked ninth in the state in Division 2.
Collecting wins against Petoskey were Max Knowlton (106 pounds), Travis Henderson (113), Arin Maynard (120), Zac Corlew (126), Tanner Cowles (132), Jake Rozycki (138), Ian Cook (144), Bryce Muskovin (157), Aiden Neal (165), Andrew Corradin (175), Sage Secrest (215) and Devin Welch (285).

The dual against Cedar Springs was much more competitive.
The Rockets led 14-6, then Cedar Springs won six matches in a row to take control.
Posting victories against Cedar Springs were Knowlton (pin), Henderson, Cowles (pin), Rozycki (technical fall), Cook and Secrest (pin).
Sage Secrest
Cook won by a score of 1-0 over a state-ranked opponent. Secrest got his victory by pinning an opponent who outweighed him by 75 pounds.
"We knew we were in for a tough battle against Cedar Springs,” said R-P Coach Brad Cowles. “The team wrestled very well, but we have a few things to clean up to get back on the winning side.”
The Rockets will compete in a tournament at Gull Lake on Saturday.
