The Reeths-Puffer boys bowling team got off to a so-so start to its season on Friday at the O-K Green Preseason Conference Tournament.

But the Rockets’ coach says he’s confident that his experienced team will bounce back and have a lot of success in the coming months.

The Rockets finished in fourth place with a pin total of 2,915. Jenison took first place.

Several Rockets took turns leading the team in the three regular games.

Liam Copenhaver

Liam Copenhaver and Carter Hekkema topped the Rockets in Game 1, with each rolling a 167.

Copenhaver was the top Rocket in Game 2, bowling a 186, while Tanner Bahr led the way in Game 3 with a 190.

“Our bowlers struggled a little bit and had a hard time figuring out the lanes, and it showed in our scores,” said R-P Coach Craig Alderink. “This wasn't completely unexpected as we were bowling in our first event of the season, on lanes that we weren't familiar with.

“I still believe that this group will accomplish some pretty great things this season, and I can't wait to see how we bowl at home on Wednesday.”

The Rockets will host Hudsonville on Wednesday at Northway Lanes.
