Two very bad quarters doomed the Reeths-Puffer girls basketball team on Saturday in a road game against Forest Hills Northern.
The youthful Rockets, with a lot of freshmen and sophomores playing key roles, were outscored 49-6 in the first and third quarters combined and fell to the Huskies 64-27.
Reeths-Puffer is now 0-3 on the season.

The Rockets were down 25-2 after the first eight minutes, then pulled themselves together and outscored Northern 14-9 in the second quarter. But the trouble started again in the third quarter, when the Huskies had a 24-6 advantage.
One bright spot for Reeths-Puffer was the play of sophomore Ashlyn David, who led the team with 13 points and six rebounds.
“Forest Hills Northern jumped out on us really fast, creating a lot of turnovers early that led to easy baskets,” said R-P head coach Rodney Walker. “We have to get better at taking good care of the ball under pressure. I believe that this was a good learning lesson for us moving forward.”
The Rockets will host Hudsonville on Tuesday.
