After a tough loss to Sparta, the Reeths-Puffer hockey team rebounded in a big way on Saturday, beating East Kentwood on the road 8-0.
The Rockets showed just how deep they are in offensive talent, with six different players finding the net in the one-sided victory, which ended due to the mercy rule early in the third period.
Ayden Hartzell led the R-P attack with two goals and two assists while Tyler Tindall also scored two goals.
Reeths-Puffer is now 2-1 on the season.
“The best teams have depth on their roster, and this game showed our staff that we are trending in the right direction with our younger guys and can really have that depth throughout the season,” said R-P head coach Dustin Langlois.
R-P's Ayden Hartzell (16), who had two goals and two assists.
Reeths-Puffer scored three times in the first period, with goals from Hartzell, Connor Anderson and Hayden Taylor.
The Rockets added four more goals in the second period, with Bucky Aney, Tindall, Eli Cuti and Hartzell finding the mark.
Tindall scored in the third period, making the score 8-0 and ending the game early.
Cuti and Taylor each had two assists for the Rockets while Anderson, Kaeden Benner and Trenton Hanks each had one.
R-P's Tyler Tindall, who also scored two goals.
"We started out flat, but we managed to get things rolling about halfway through the first period,” Langlois said. “We ended up with a decent lead and started getting everyone involved in the game as much as possible.
“When things are going right, you get all of your players on the ice as much as possible and use it as a great tool to kind of dip the younger guys’ toes in the water. And they stepped up!”
Reeths-Puffer will host Grand Haven on Saturday.
