The Reeths-Puffer volleyball team is definitely playing better this year, but the very strong O-K Green conference remains a challenge for the Rockets.
The Rockets were reminded of that on Thursday when they made the trip to Mona Shores and fell to the rival Sailors in straight sets, 21-25, 8-25, 14-25.
The Rockets are now 8-9 overall on the season, a definite step up from last year, but 0-3 in the O-K Green standings.

“We are competing with very good teams that are taller and have more offensive firepower than us, and I am happy with our compete level,” said R-P Coach Justin Birr. “The great thing about this group is that they are hungry for more. They aren't happy with a moral victory - they want to win.
“We will keep working to close the gap in one of the toughest conferences in the state of Michigan.”
Alissa Klopp led the Rockets offensively with nine digs and two aces. Maddy Dyer added five kills.
Defensively, Carlee Brown led with six digs while Dyer and Chloe Brainard each had four.
The Rockets will return to action next Thursday at home against Byron Center.
