The Reeths-Puffer volleyball team is steadily improving, and the proof is in the numbers.

Last year the Rockets only won seven matches all season. On Saturday they surpassed that by gaining their eighth win of 2024, with a lot of volleyball still to play.

It came in a tough three-set victory over Holland West Ottawa in the Panthers’ own invitational tournament.

The Rockets won a very tough first set 26-24, lost the second 20-25, then rebounded and captured the decisive third set, 25-22.

R-P lost its other two matches of the day, to Traverse City West and Holland Christian, but emerged with an 8-7 record on the season.

“It was a great team effort, highlighted by Alissa Klopp with 11 kills and one error in the front row, Carlee Bowen in the back row with some awesome defensive plays, and Maddy Dyer with some great decision making while setting,” R-P Coach Justin Birr said about the win over West Ottawa.

“I'm encouraged by the continued growth of our team from match to match. These girls continue to want to win, and they continue to push themselves to improve. It's fun to coach a group of girls with that inner drive to improve and win.”
