The Reeths-Puffer volleyball team definitely has some fight in it.
Just ask the Spring Lake Lakers.
The Rockets lost the first two sets to the Lakers at Spring Lake High School on Tuesday, both by scores of 23-25, and appeared ready to go down to defeat.

But that appearance was deceiving, because R-P roared back with a vengeance, winning the last three sets 25-21, 25-23, 15-11 to steal away an exciting victory.
That amazing win capped a perfect 2-0 night for Reeths-Puffer, which started out the evening with a three-set sweep of Saranac, 25-14, 25-17, 25-9.
It was a great bounce-back night for the Rockets, who posted a 1-2 record and lost a key player to injury last Saturday at the Fruitport Invitational.

“These girls went after it absolutely every play, and they earned a hard-fought victory over a quality opponent,” R-P Coach Justin Birr said about the Spring Lake match. “This is the first reverse sweep I have coached, and I am so proud of these girls for coming back.
"This is by far the best we have looked as a team. All elements of our game were clicking, and that helped us stay in system and put the ball away.
“It was a true team effort, with all 14 players contributing to the positive energy of our team. These seniors were 7-34 last season, and now we have already matched our wins at 7-5. We still have parts of our game that need to improve, but I am so proud of our gritty win tonight.”

Alissa Klopp had a very big night for the Rockets, leading the team with 23 kills. Mady Snyder and Mairyn Peterson kicked in with 17 and 15, respectively.
Maddi Dyer served nine aces and Kiera Ketner had eight.
Defensively, Snyder had 15 digs, Ketner added 11 and Dyer had 10.
Reeths-Puffer, now 7-5 on the season, will compete in the West Ottawa Invitational on Saturday.
