The Reeths-Puffer boys tennis team opened the season on Wednesday against some tough competition at the Ludington Invitational and had some mixed results.
The Rockets had winning record in the two top singles flights and the second doubles flight, and all four players were runners-up and medalists.
R-P finished fourth in the team standings with 7 points. Traverse City West won the event with 16 points, Cadillac was second with 13 and Ludington had 12.

Reeths-Puffer’s Ethan Frang, making his debut at No. 1 singles, posted a 2-1 record, defeating TC West’s Edward Chan 6-3, 6-3 and Cadillac’s Connor Hill 6-3, 6-1 and falling to Ludington’s Oliver Kolb 6-3, 7-6.
Quinn Alderink was 2-1 at No. 2 doubles. He rallied to beat Cadillac’s Keaston Johnson 6-7, 6-1, 10-7, then defeated TC West’s Ryan Goodrich 6-4, 6-1. Alderink lost to Ludington’s Ryan Higley in another long match, 4-6, 6-3, 10-2.
The No. 2 doubles team of Trent VanDam and Cory Judd beat a team from Ludington 6-1, 6-2, then rallied to beat a team from TC West 4-6, 6-0, 10-8. VanDam and Judd lost to Cadillac 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.
