The Reeths-Puffer softball team kept its outstanding season moving forward, and got a bit of revenge for last season, by beating Mona Shores 10-3 on Thursday in a Division 1 pre-district matchup.
The two teams played last season in an identical situation and the Rockets were forced to end a very good year with a loss to the Sailors in pre-districts.
The Sailors seemed determined to do the same thing on Thursday when they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

But the Rockets responded with six runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and two more in the seventh.
R-P pounded out 14 hits in the victory.
Kaylee Jones hit a home run and had a single. Tessa Ross collected a double and a single.
Natalie Kunnen, Brook Buchan and Lainey McDaniel each hit two singles while Megan Barmes had a double.

The Rockets also set a new single-season school record for runs batted in. They now have 262 RBIs, surpassing the old mark of 254 set in 2009.
Mady Snider started on the mound for R-P, pitching one inning, then McDaniel came in and slammed the door on Mona Shores, allowing no runs with 13 strikeouts over the final six innings.
Reeths-Puffer, co-champion of the O-K Green conference, improved to 31-3-1.
The Rockets will host Hudsonville Unity Christian next Wednesday in a final regular season game, before playing Muskegon on June 1 at 10 a.m. in the first round of districts at Grand Haven High School.

The winner will advance to the district finals later that afternoon against either Grand Haven or West Ottawa.
“Even though Shores scored three runs in the first inning, all of our players and coaches kept a calm composure and knew that we were going to be fine,” said R-P Coach Sarah Bayle. “We did a great job of not letting it get to us and trusting that we would get those runs back and more. That’s exactly what we did.
“If we can keep that composure consistently against any team, moving into the rest of the postseason, then we will be just fine! I’m looking forward to seeing what these girls can do in the final weeks of the season.”
