The Reeths-Puffer boys golf team will be looking to rebound on its home course on Friday at the Rocket Invitational after a disappointing performance on Wednesday.

The up-and-down Rockets, who won their first O-K Green conference jamboree last Tuesday, then finished second at the GMAA City Tournament a day later, finished in fourth place at the sixth conference jamboree on Wednesday at Clearbrook Golf Club.

It was the third time that R-P has finished fourth in the conference events this season. They also have one third-place finish, along with last week’s top finish.

Dylan Panozzo

One bit of good news was that the standings were tight. The Rockets’ team score of 177 was only five shots behind Holland and Mona Shores, who tied for second place. Zeeland West won the event with a 164.

The Rockets also got very strong performances from their two top golfers.

Dylan Panozzo, who won the city tournament individual championship last week, took second place at the jamboree with a 39, one shot behind first-place Michael Girman of Zeeland West, who finished first.

“Dylan came out and played another great round of golf,” said R-P Coach Matt Pallet. “That is hard to do, especially after just winning the city tournament.”

Kristian Brown

R-P’s Kristian Brown shot a 40 and finished in fourth place individually.

Aiden Waggoner shot a 48 for the Rockets, followed by Ryleigh Beebe (50), and Jake Lee and Ayden Hartzell (both 53).

“Dylan and Kristian are starting to play some solid golf,” Pallett said. “I need to find some consistency in my other players.”

The R-P squad will return to action on Friday by hosting the Rocket Invitational at their home Lincoln Golf Course.
