It’s tough to win an event in a track meet when you’re going up against athletes from great programs like Zeeland East and Muskegon.

Reeths-Puffer’s Tate Bradley pulled it off on Wednesday, winning the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:03.6, which was four seconds better than Zeeland East’s Sam Downing, who finished in second.

Bradley was the only Rocket to pull off a win on a challenging day for R-P, which lost both ends of the O-K Green conference double dual. The Rockets fell to Muskegon 72-37 and Zeeland East 101-36.rq3

Three Reeths-Puffer relay teams finished second, in the 4 x 100 (Brody Johnson, Marvin Moore, London Rankin, Caiden Bolduc), the 4 x 200 (Johnson, Moore, Rankin. Bryce Muskovin) and the 4 x 800 (Bradley, Matt Grimard, Lucas Carvalho, Alfonso Gomez). Both times were season bests.

Taking third for the Rockets were Bolduc in the 100-meter dash, Bryce Muskovin in the 400-meter dash and Mason Darke in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. Darke set personal records in both events.

R-P’s 4 x 400-meter relay team (Keegan Sorito, Landon Howland, Corey Holmes, Stephen Salazar) also finished third.

Jezsiah Sims finished fourth in both the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

London Rankin was fifth in the 100-meter dash. Finishing sixth were Muskovin in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash and Nathan Dollaway in the discus.

The Rockets will compete in Friday's Greater Muskegon Athletic Association City Meet at Montague High School.
