Trent Reichert had a big night on the mound and at the plate on Tuesday, helping the Reeths-Puffer baseball team sweep a doubleheader from Holland in O-K Green conference play.

R-P won the first game 10-0. Reichert was dominant on the mound, allowing only one hit and striking out eight in 4 2/3 innings.

Brayden Mitchelson, Cade Paugh, and Landyn Wilson combined for six of Reeths-Puffer’s 12 hits. The trio scored three runs and drove in four for the game.

The Rockets completed the sweep with a 15-8 victory in Game 2. Reichert had two big hits – his second home run of the season and a double – and knocked in four runs.

R-P totaled 17 hits in the game.  Paugh and Holden Earnest led the team with four hits apiece while Ethan Frang added two.

Jaxson Whitaker pitched the win, allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out six in three innings.

The Rockets, who have now won four games in a row, are 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

They will travel to Holland for the third and final game of the series on Thursday.
