The Reeths-Puffer girls basketball team has been up and down all season.

The good news is that the Rockets seem to be trending in the up direction with only a few games left before districts roll around.

R-P captured its third victory in five games on Tuesday with an impressive 53-35 home win over Zeeland East in O-K Green conference action.

The Rockets jumped out to a big early lead, 15-3, after one quarter. Zeeland East had the advantage in the second quarter, cutting R-P’s lead to 21-16 at halftime, then Reeths-Puffer took control for good with a 21-8 edge in the third.

R-P's Megan Barmes, who continued her hot 3-point shooting and scored 14 points.

Seniors Brooklynn Tornes and Megan Barmes led the way for R-P with 22 and 14 points, respectively. Barmes collected 12 of her points on four triples.

Tornes added five steals and five assists while Barmes had six steals. Irelyn Niklasch pulled down 10 rebounds for the Rockets, who improved to 8-11 overall and 7-6 in conference play.

Reeths-Puffer will close out the regular season with a home game against Zeeland West on Friday and a road game against Hudsonville next Tuesday.
