The Reeths-Puffer competitive cheer team captured its third consecutive Division 2 district championship on Friday, and the final margin of victory wasn’t particularly close.
The Rockets finished with 735.82 total points to land on top of the 15-team field at Forest Hills Eastern High School. They easily outdistanced second-place Zeeland West, which came in with 721.86 total points.
Reeths-Puffer did very well in each phase of the competition, with a 225.7 score in Round 1 (execution), 205.72 in Round 2 (overall skills) and 304.40 in Round 3 (stunts).
The Rockets had the top score in each of the three rounds.
Reeths-Puffer now advances to regionals at Kenowa Hills High School. The top four teams in that competition will advance to the Division 2 state finals.
