Usually when the final numbers are added up, Brooklynn Tornes has most of the big stats for the Reeths-Puffer girls basketball team.
But now it appears that she’s starting to get some serious help from her rapidly improving teammates.
Four different Rockets scored in double figures on Wednesday, helping R-P race to an impressive 70-33 victory over Grand Rapids Union in O-K Green conference action.
Irelyn Niklasch
The victory was the fourth in a row for Reeths-Puffer, which started the season with five straight losses.
Tornes had another terrific game, piling up 23 points, six rebounds, nine assists and seven steals.
Senior post player Irelyn Niklasch also had a great night, scoring 10 points and snagging 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive boards.
Savannah Lockwood
Megan Barmes added 10 points and six steals while Savannah Lockwood tossed in 13 points.
“I thought the girls did a great job playing together and sharing the ball,” said R-P head coach Rodney Walker. “I thought this game might have helped us move ahead a little bit more in terms of offensive production. This victory was a total team performance.”
