The Reeths-Puffer baseball team was close to gaining a win on Thursday, but Zeeland West tied the game in the seventh inning, then scored seven runs in the eighth to hand the Rockets a 10-6 loss in O-K Green conference action.
R-P led 3-2 in the seventh and could have escaped with a victory, but an error allowed the Dux to tie the game, force an extra inning and then pull away.
The loss spoiled a solid effort by Reeths-Puffer pitcher Trent Reichert, who scattered eight hits and struck out eight in seven innings.
R-P's Catcher Earnest, who knocked in two runs in the game.
The Rockets had a good day at the plate, pounding out 10 hits. Holden Earnest, Kyle Schlaff, Catcher Earnest and Jaxson Whitaker all collected multiple hits.
Catcher Earnest and Reichert each had two RBIs.
Reeths-Puffer, now 12-11, will host rival Mona Shores in a conference doubleheader on Tuesday.
