Reeths-Puffer freshman Kristian Brown now has a taste of what it’s like to finish among the top high school golfers in the area.
Brown shot an 85 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for sixth place individually and win a medal at the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association City Tournament at Lincoln Golf Club.
He started his round off slowly, then finished with two birdies over the last 12 holes.
Mona Shores’ Nicholas Taylor won the individual title with a 73.
“Kristian Brown had a great stretch of 12 holes after starting off not so hot on the first six holes,” said R-P Coach Matt Pallett. “He showed some mental toughness and a ‘next shot’ mentality. He had some great ups and downs today."

The Rockets fell a bit short of their team goal for the day. They placed fourth in the 11-team field with a combined score of 370, which was two slots lower than what they hoped for.
Mona Shores won the title with a 320 score. Whitehall was second with 345 while Western Michigan Christian was third with 355.
Dylan Panozzo finished with an 89 for Reeths-Puffer after shooting par on eight holes. Jacob Pierce shot a 97 for the Rockets, followed by Tanner Bonjernoor (99) and Mason Cregg (110).
“As a team we are a little disappointed in our finish,” Pallett said. “Collectively we know we have some things to work on. We look forward to some practice days leading into our next Jamboree.”
