R-P's Jersi Bilek, who won the 1,600-meter run.

In dual competition against Muskegon, Lockwood and Kamari Walker placed first and second, respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

In overall team scores, the Rockets fell to Mona Shores 78-49 and Muskegon 58-4.

“Great first outdoor track meet in the sun,” said R-P Coach Angela Grant. “Isabella Smith showed a great positive attitude and did not get rattled by the fact that when the pole vault was set to begin, it was discovered that the equipment was not set up correctly and changes had to be made that took a significant amount of time.

"She warmed up on her own, made the appropriate adjustments and easily cleared the opening height of six feet and went on to clear seven feet.

“Our sprinters - Bri Smith, Madi Smith and Melana Johnson - showed great promise today for a great season.”
