The Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team rounded out the regular season on style on Thursday by going on the road and posting a 59-49 victory over a good Hudsonville squad in non-conference action.
Three of the game’s four quarters were pretty even, but the Rockets gained their edge with a 23-13 advantage in the second. They led 9-8 after one quarter, 32-21 at halftime and 42-32 after three quarters.
R-P’s Travis Ambrose scored 25 points for the second straight game while hauling down 15 rebounds and blocking five shots. Fellow junior Jaxson Whitaker also had a great night with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Antrel Jones added six points with six rebounds and three assists for Reeths-Puffer while Kyle Schlaff added five points, all in the fourth quarter.

“It was a great overall effort from our guys against a very good Hudsonville team,” said R-P Coach Nate Aardema. “We have a lot of respect for their program and it was fantastic to go to their place and earn a win in our last regular season game of the year.
“Our defense and energy were very good tonight. I am really proud of our guys for their focus and effort.”
The Rockets will open Division 1 district tournament play at home on Monday against Kenowa Hills. The survivor of that game will play the winner of the Grand Haven-Coopersville game next Wednesday.
