The Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team hit nine three-point shots on Tuesday, but only managed four buckets from two-point range and fell to Rockford 63-51 in a non-conference matchup.
The Rockets trailed 18-11 after one quarter, 35-30 at halftime and 50-40 after three quarters. Rockford converted 7 of 11 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Reeths-Puffer was 16-for-25 from the free throw line while Rockford was 14-for-24.
Travis Ambrose had a very strong night for the Rockets, totaling 25 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. Jaxson Whitaker added 14 points and three assists.

Charlie Dutsch had 16 points for Rockford.
“We struggled with turnovers in the third quarter and were trying to dig out of that hole the rest of the night,” said Reeths-Puffer Coach Nate Aardema. “Rockford played tough, physical defense, and that took us out of what we wanted to do a bit.”
The Rockets dropped to 12-9 on the season. They will wrap up their regular season schedule on Thursday with a road game at Hudsonville.
Reeths-Puffer will open Division 1 district tournament play against Kenowa Hills on Monday at Coopersville High School at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner of the Grand Haven-Coopersville game on Wednesday.
